It’s not easy to get it right one time but this Karachi bride managed to do it for every event!
Helps that she’s a stickler for details. So we had to give you a breakdown of Aisha’s looks for all
future brides-to-be to take notes!
Welcome to the Wedding of Aisha and Ahsen.
Ahsen and I are childhood friends. We went our separate ways for college, but our efforts to
stay in touch worked out. After our reconciliation in Karachi we decided to tie the knot. Our
families met just once and thought it’s best to have the Baat Paki event only one week later!
‘Baat Paki & Engagement’
My first celebration, Baat Paki, was set to be in the first week of November, only a week after my
mother-in-law had come to visit. My sister decided that we decorate the house ourselves and fill
in the gift boxes too. I wore a yellow unstitched formal from Elan, that I had tailored from my
local tailor and I absolutely loved it. The evening was really small and intimate, I only invited my
girls. Towards the end, we served falooda which ended up being our guest’s favourite.
Our engagement happened a few days later. It was a simple ring exchange ceremony with
family at my husband’s house. We celebrated with dinner later at Sind Club, which acted as a
small get-together between our families and allowed them to get to know each other.

‘Mayun’
For my Mayun event I wore a beautiful printed floral Anita Dongre lehenga choli. Sara’s Henna
did my mehendi. The gorgeous Mayun setup was done by my family.

‘Nikkah’
Our Nikkah was held at Ballroom 19. They did everything! Best food which was all inclusive. I
wore a stunning Tena Durrani outfit with a dupatta from Ali Xeeshan. I prefer small gatherings
but my father insisted on festivities such as fireworks on my Nikkah.

‘Qawali’
On the day of the qawali, I decided to have our photos taken in a separate location (TDF Ghar).
All my close friends and family gathered, and I was able to get portraits and candids without
having to worry about the photographers. This helped me enjoy my event so much more! I wore
a beautifully made Hussain Rehar bridal.

‘Reception’
After hectic 2 weeks and functions insisted on by both sides of the family, we ended the
festivities with a beautiful reception at Karachi Golf Club in Karsaz. I wore a coral outfit from
Faraz Manan and jewellery from Sherezad Rahimtoola. The setup was very clean with white
and green flowers and lots of drapery.

Words From The Bride:
‘I used my wedding planning process as a time to bond with my in-laws and family. I’ve seen so
many brides stress out during this time and they end up fighting with their family over the
smallest things. They seem very important, but only later do you realize how insignificant they
were and how you missed out on a very memorable time.’
Tips from the Bride:
I stayed extremely hydrated, slept well, and ate well too. Not eating or drinking enough can
make your stress worse than it already is. Often brides begin to diet around their wedding, and it
ends up making them moody, which ends up in them missing out.
Pick the comfiest pair of shoes to find. Your bridal is so heavy that an uncomfortable pair of
shoes can ruin your day. For photos and greetings, you’ll be on your feet more than you think,
it’s best to pick one comfortable pair you can wear to every festivity. I wore the same pair of
shoes for every single event. A pair of Sophia Webster heels. I also took them to every
single fitting to make sure the length of the outfits was perfect.
Vendor Reviews:
Invitations: Folia Creatives
With the help of Folia Creatives, I was able to design a beautiful wedding card.
Hair Artist: DryStyle
Ayesha Mushtaq at DryStyle did my makeup and set my double dupatta in a way that not
alot of people would have managed.
Mehendi Artist: Sara’s Henna
My favorite vendor was Sara’s Henna. Her henna is homemade, which is so hard to find these
days with all the chemical variations. It doesn’t irritate and it feels like part of my skin as
opposed to sitting on my skin. She was super sweet and patient, as it took hours for my detailed
henna design to complete, but I ended up loving it. The mehendi lasted 8.5 weeks! Instead of
peeling off it nicely fades.
Dessert: Shama’s Bakery
Shama’s Bakery did a beautiful and delicious dessert table at my wedding reception which
everyone loved!
Makeup Artist: Nargis Taqi
My reception makeup was done by Nargis Taqi who did a seamless spray on foundation. A few
things that I learned, which stood out the most, was my decision to have my make-up done by
one artist, after a trial with them. Some brides go to an artist for the first time at their wedding,
and a risk like that is absolutely not worth it. I chose to get my makeup done in a location of my
choice. As a bride, you should be prioritized, instead of having to go to the artist, whose salon
can end up being far away from your location. Secondly, you should be able to dictate your
preferences. Small decisions in your look like a lip shade matter. Being a bride you have thought
about your look so much, you should make sure you have a say.
